Quick summary: It happened when I was 19. I was driving thru Anniston, Alabama. I was going the speed limit. There was a car in front of me going rather slow. The police man must have been following me with his lights off because I swear I saw the same cop 2 miles back. I was going to pass the car then we went around a curve and the double line showed up so I pulled back into place behind the car. Now, about 15 seconds later, a cop turned on his lights. I pulled over. He said "you were passing in a no passing zone." I said - "Well, I was going to pass until the zone changed and I pulled back into place." He said - "It doesn't matter, you were speeding anyway." I was 19 and didn't think about asking him, how fast was I going, this was my first ticket. So he took my licenses, went to the car and came back. He asked me - "which one do you want." I said - "Which one what do I want." - He said - "Which ticket, speeding or passing, they are both about the same - 170 dollars." I was mad but I said - "Okay, passing then." Because I lived out of State, I decided it would be less hectic to just go ahead and pay the ticket. A. I would have to Take off work. B. I would have to Drive all the way back to court in Alabama and C. Alabama courts are so corrupted, I would have loss probably anyway. HD - I didn't cross that line. In States like Alabama and Mississippi Cops do that all the time. There are a lot of good cops, but don't be foolish enough to think there isn't corruption going on. HD - $170 isn't cheap for something I didn't do. Plus I got that on my record. And I'm a Truck Driver. How would the Cop see me cross the line when it was 1:00am at night? I never crossed the line - and he said I ws speeding - asked me to choose between a ticket. Does that sound like an honest Cop?... Read More »
